Good design, sturdy construction, works great…but it really was not adequate for keeping a large tent warm. At best, it took the edge off the cold-32degs at 7,000′. My fault for buying a unit that was too small…but thought the rest of you might appreciate the advice.

The formula for calculating how big of a heater you need is the volume of your tent (LxWxH) x 4. A better insulated space might have a multiplier of 3, or even 2. We camp in a nice 10×10 Eureka tent, tall enough to stand up in–and I should have got at least a 3000-4000btu heater.

Although I haven’t tried it, this unit would probably be adequate to warm a car, or maybe a truck camper shell, or a smaller tent.

For the money, this is not a bad deal. Yet I found it to be of inferior quality. The ratchet looks like die cast metal even though it is “triple chrome plated.” It is rough around the edges and is not like an evenly polished higher quality tool set you see at other stores. The driver handle is cheap plastic that reminds me of a similar one I had that split and broke from the shaft. For a flea market type set that does the job, I guess this is what you would be looking for.

Although the writing was rather adolescent Goody-Two-Shoes style, the plot and mystery were enough to keep me reading until the end. Don’t think I will be tempted by another one of her books, though.

If I want professional quality tools I will pay for it. If I want something simple and cheap to use when the rest of my tools are in storage, this is fine. I figure I’ll use two sockets tops over a year for changing the oil and assembling the bunk bed – for under 5 bucks this does very nicely. Would not use for serious projects, but for the occasional use – its fine!

I purchased this unit to use in my deer stand in Minnesota this November. Overall I was pleased. The unit did smell terribly at first. I would strongly suggest burning a canister in the outdoors before you actually go out and use it in a tent or any enclosed area to burn off the smell. On a windy day it did take a little bit of effort to start but on the norm it started nicely. Once started the unit put off heat and stayed lit no matter in the wind or not. Being that I was using it in an open area, not enclosed, I probably could have used a bit more BTU’s. I later used it in an enclosed area and was impressed with the warmth it provided. I was impressed by the fact that it is extremely quiet, portable, easy to start, and efficient.

I bought this kit for my cats after buying them cat grass at the farmers market. They went crazy for it and the next time I went to market they were out of cat grass. Coming home emtied handed was not an option for my cats!! I bought the kit and it is a no brainer. The grass comes up in a few days when put in sunlight. It takes about a week to get it up to the size for the cats to enjoy and it last about a week. It is worth it to see them devour the first blades when I put it out. My cats are two full grown 20lb kittys! They would live without out it but really like having it to munch on. The combination of oat, rye, wheat and barley must make it tastier than just the oat grass that I get at the farmers market.

This book is a wonderful resource for anyone who cares about balancing their own needs as residents of the planet with the needs of all the bugs out there. Insects are introduced, their contributions to their ecosystem detailed, possible ways of controlling them discussed where that is needed, and final, more dire solutions are available where needed. A great resource for those who want their pest control to be as little destructive as possible, and in many cases this is also what is most effective. A good resource to have on hand.

This is a book with some twists. It is set in Amish country but most of the characters are not Amish. There are strong Religious tones throughout the book. The main character’s grandmother and younger sister are trying to open a Bed and Breakfast when the younger sister is involved in a serious accident. The business minded older sister comes to the rescue but is being stalked and her life threatened. There is also a love interest for the older sister. I would not read this book a second time.
